Promoting lifetime activity for the youthful is the overall focus of the renovation of the Play Park. The park will include an inclusive and accessible playground. It will create opportunities for collaborative play and social interaction for children of all abilities, promoting inclusion in our community, creating a destination showpiece, and filling a need not currently met. Outdoor play stimulates speech, cognition, gross motor skills, fine motor skills and social skills more efficiently than any other method of instruction. The play space also will promote self-empowerment and imaginative play for all kids.​

The renovation of the Play Park will be a community led effort. The playground will encompass nearly 1,600 square feet in Memorial Park. The finished product will impact Russell and the surrounding areas. All the youthful regardless of their abilities will be able to enjoy the playground.
